ACLU July People Power Action Call: An ICE Abuse Teach-in

About this event

On July 7th, Lorenzo Salgado Araujo—a father, husband, and homebuilder  who was on his way to work—was shot and killed by an Immigrant and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent. Less than a week later, ICE agents shot and killed 26-year-old father Joan Sebastian Guerrero, this time in Maine.

These heartbreaking killings are yet more proof that ICE is out of control. The Trump administration is sending scores of reckless agents into our streets to take our loved ones and neighbors. It’s happening all over the country, ramping up to record-breaking numbers.

On July 30th at 7 PM CT / 5 PM PT, join the ACLU for our July People Power Action Call: An ICE Abuse Teach-in, where we’ll share critical updates about the Trump Administration’s deportation policing force and how we can respond to protect each other.

During the call, we’ll discuss a new ACLU report documenting 1,200 incidents across eight states and reveals widespread, systematic abuse including targeting kids, using excessive force and attacking protestors and observers.

During our Action Call, you’ll:

  • Hear from the ACLU Immigration Director of Policy & Government Affairs about key findings from the research, and what they mean for both our immigrant and citizen neighbors
  • Learn from ACLU affiliate staff and activists on the frontlines of organizing efforts to slow the deportation machine
  • Take action to support solutions like the American Dream and Promise Act

ICE and Border Patrol are out of control. Our communities deserve to live in peace, not under the constant threat of needless separation.

WHAT: July People Power Action Call: ICE Abuse Teach-in

WHEN: Thursday, July 30th at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT

WHERE: Zoom (RSVP for link)

We cannot let these dangerous and disproportionate abuses of power carry on. As the Trump administration continues its attacks on our communities, we’ll continue to show up for each other. Join us on July 30th.
