Unite Against Books Bans and Everyday Advocacy are thrilled to announce that our popular, interactive webinar “Storytelling for Advocacy” will be offered again during Banned Books Week!
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 4 p.m. CT and join us to develop new strategies to advocate for the use of diverse books and reframe the public narrative about our schools and libraries.
Everyday Advocacy: Day-to-Day Actions to Reframe the Narrative
At Everyday Advocacy (EA), we understand the challenges teachers and librarians face daily: hearing outside experts dictate practices and policies, watching curriculum decisions unfold without appropriate input from those on the front lines, and seeing our experience and expertise sidelined. That exclusion isn’t only unfair—it also harms the learners we aim to empower. This webinar will prepare participants to advocate for the essential perspectives that both professional educators and librarians and diverse books provide.
During this virtual workshop, we’ll share:
- Practical tools drawn from our Everyday Advocacy Playbook—a step‑by‑step guide that helps educators craft advocacy plans that are smart, safe, savvy, and sustainable.
- Interactive reflection prompts and breakout groups that can help you translate theory into an action plan to drive change in your community.
- Strategies to confront book bans, with replicable examples of how peers have successfully defended intellectual freedom.
The Playbook is a powerful resource for educators seeking to influence policy, shape curricula, and protect the books that matter to students. In this webinar, we’ll walk you through the Playbook’s core framework, brainstorm how to adapt it for your unique context, and answer your questions about effective advocacy.
