- In 74 out of 75 counties in Arkansas, 20% of the population is enrolled in Medicaid
- In 15 counties, more than 30% of people rely on Medicaid
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed in July, 2025:
- OBBBA cut nearly 1 Trillion dollars from Medicaid
- OBBBA provides 2 Trillion in tax cuts to the wealthiest 10%
- OBBBA provides 1 Trillion in tax cuts to the top 1%
- 166, 000 Arkansans have ACA plans
- ACA plan costs are expected to more than double with the expiration of tax credits
Action: Call your representatives. 1. Let them know you noticed how they voted for billionaires over their constituents. 2. Ask them what their plan is to help Arkansans who lose their healthcare coverage.
Example of action: Indivisible member Teri penned her own letter about ACA cuts, published on the Arkansas Democrat Gazette letter to the editor website November 29. See an excerpt from her letter here:
“Since our state said yes to Medicaid expansion under the ACA, one rural hospital closed, but it was replaced. In neighboring states that opted out, 59 have closed. UAMS went from 14 percent uncompensated to 4 percent. The BUB (Big Ugly Bill) will likely reverse that.”
