Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that Arkansas National Guard troops will be deployed to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in terrorizing and upending communities across our state.
This is an unprecedented and dangerous abuse of power. The military should not be used to police civilians. Deploying troops for immigration enforcement shatters the separation between military force and civilian life, and it threatens the rights and safety of all Arkansans.
The ACLU of Arkansas is taking action – and we need you with us. Here’s what you can do right now:
- Sign the Petition – Add your name to demand No Troops on Our Streets.
- Know Your Rights – If you or someone you know is stopped by ICE or law enforcement, it’s critical to be prepared. Visit and share our Know Your Rights page.
- Report Activity – If you see or hear about immigration raids, troop presence, or ICE activity, report it safely to us so we can track and respond.
- Speak Out – Share our resources, talk with your neighbors, and contact your elected officials. Every Arkansan should denounce this misuse of power and demand that our government protect, not endanger, our communities.
This is a pivotal moment. Using soldiers to target immigrant families is unconstitutional, un-American, and sets a terrifying precedent. Arkansans should not live in fear of military troops in their neighborhoods.
The ACLU of Arkansas will keep fighting in the courts, in the legislature, and in the streets together to stop this abuse of power. Together, we can and will defend the rights of all people in Arkansas.
